Cessna 172M SkyHawk II

Equipped with dual Garmin G5 instruments and a Garmin GNS 650 avionics suite, N61574 is well suited to both IFR and VFR flight training. The dual G5s provide clear, reliable digital flight data — precise attitude, altitude and heading information — which makes them excellent for learning. Paired with the GNS 650, they support cross-country navigation, traffic separation, weather updates and more.

Kraken is a great airplane for every level of training.

What you actually pay

"Wet" includes fuel

The hourly aircraft rate covers fuel — you're not settling up at the pump afterward. Instruction is billed separately at $60/hour, so an hour of dual in Kraken is $165 + $60 = $225.

You're billed for time flown

Aircraft time is metered by the Hobbs meter, which runs while the engine does. Preflight inspection and post-flight debrief with your instructor aren't aircraft time.

Renting as a certificated pilot

Both aircraft are available to rated pilots after a checkout with one of our instructors. That's standard everywhere — it's about being comfortable in this specific airplane. Ask us about current requirements.

Why a 172

Why we train in Cessna 172s

The 172 is the most-produced aircraft in history, and it earned that. It's a high-wing design, which means an unobstructed view of the ground below you — genuinely useful when you're learning to judge a landing or find a checkpoint. It's stable, forgiving of the imprecision every student starts with, and it recovers predictably when you get something wrong.

It's also everywhere. Skills you build in a 172 transfer directly to rental fleets across the country, so the certificate you earn here stays useful wherever you travel.
